Retirement or “Resignation”

So Steve McNair’s 13 year career is over, but was it his choice like he told us all it was? I’m a cynic by nature so I guess I’m not as trusting as others but this has forced retirement written all over it. Tell everyone you’re retiring, that your body can’t do what your mind wants of it. Tell the fans you are a Warrior, that you gave it all you got and after 13 years and long thought you are finished playing. I think that’s what “THEY” told him to say. Like all those coaches in all those sports that “STEP DOWN”. Sure they stepped down, after being told to take the buyout and resign or get fired and get nothing. McNair is a class guy and I’m sure could be a vital part of many teams in a backup role, but is that really where he wants to be… a backup. That guy doesn’t have it in him to play backup, that I think I know. What I don’t know is if a healthy Steve McNair is better than Kyle Boller and or Troy Smith. With all that said I think the Ravens told old Stevie he was NOT part of the future plans, with a new head coach, and McNair knows he “ ain’t no backup” so they both agreed to have him retire. Is it far fetched… maybe but we have all seen and heard of weirder things happen in sport.
