Money, Power, Respect
What’s life going to be like for the NEW generation of NFL’er who retire? I look at recent “star” players that have left the game behind and realize a few things, mostly the topic of money and future tasks. This generation of Strahan, Ogden, Sapp & Favre etc have really nothing to worry about financially. And yes they are huge names in the biz but even the lesser know players are now making so much money, if they just plan properly they should be taken care of. So then what? Most of us have our life mapped out based on our work and fit in the rest around it. This generation and beyond will not have such issues and I hope to see many great things from these relatively young men. Most people hit there earning peek during their 40’s and 50’s, not 20’s and 30’s, which means much more time for philanthropy and other lines of work. Work that can be done without the pressure of having to succeed, but wanting to, meaning focus can be put where wanted with a greater likely hood of success. I truly feel these guys are special people and they just happened to use their gifts toward football, which now can he harnessed to become special in other fields too. I hope if one good thing comes from such high sports salaries is that the “old” guys start to give back in huge ways, not just with a standard tax shield foundation, but really making a difference. What else do they have to do?
